Acupuncture care for every stage of life

Our acupuncture services are available for adults, parents, babies and children, with particular experience supporting people through fertility, pregnancy and postpartum.

Treatment is always adapted to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Fertility acupuncture

Acupuncture can be incorporated into your fertility and preconception care whether you are beginning to think about pregnancy, navigating changes in your menstrual cycle or going through fertility treatment.

People may seek acupuncture during this stage for support related to stress, sleep, menstrual comfort, cycle concerns and overall well-being while trying to conceive.

At Saulestice, acupuncture can also complement other fertility and preconception services available within our multidisciplinary team.

Acupuncture during pregnancy

Pregnancy brings continuous physical and emotional change. Acupuncture offers an individualized form of care that can be adapted throughout the different stages of pregnancy.

Pregnant clients commonly seek acupuncture for concerns such as nausea, physical tension, digestive discomfort, sleep difficulties, stress and feelings of heaviness or swelling.

Care can continue as pregnancy progresses, including during preparation for birth when appropriate.

Postpartum acupuncture

The weeks and months after giving birth can involve recovery, hormonal changes, disrupted sleep, fatigue and the demands of caring for a newborn.

Postpartum acupuncture provides dedicated time to focus on your own well-being while your body adjusts after pregnancy and birth.

Treatment is personalized according to your recovery, energy, sleep, stress and other concerns discussed during your appointment.

Pediatric acupuncture for babies & children

Acupuncture care can also be adapted for babies and children.

For younger patients, treatment does not necessarily look like adult acupuncture. Small, child-friendly techniques can be used, including tiny press needles applied with small stickers when appropriate.

Treatments are adapted to your child’s age, comfort and needs, allowing babies to nurse and children to relax or play during their appointment.

FAQs

Does acupuncture hurt?

No. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine. You may notice a brief sensation when a needle is placed, but treatment is designed with your comfort in mind. If you are particularly sensitive or nervous about needles, let us know. Technique and needle choice can be adapted to help make your experience as comfortable as possible. Once the needles are in place, many people simply rest quietly during the treatment.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Acupuncture can be provided during pregnancy by an appropriately trained acupuncturist, with point selection and treatment adapted to the stage of pregnancy and the client’s individual needs. Our acupuncture service is provided in accordance with professional standards in Québec. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or a specific medical concern, let your acupuncturist know and continue following the recommendations of your physician, midwife or other pregnancy care provider.

Do you treat babies and children?

Yes. Acupuncture treatment can be adapted specifically for babies and children. Depending on the child’s age and needs, very small techniques or tiny press needles held in place with stickers may be used instead of a traditional adult treatment. Children can often play, relax or nurse during their appointment.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine, often abbreviated as TCM, is the medical tradition from which acupuncture developed. Acupuncture uses specific points on the body selected according to the person’s current presentation, health history and treatment goals.
