What is a baby thalasso bath?

The baby thalasso bath, also called the À Fleur d’Eau bath, is a wellness treatment inspired by thalassotherapy principles, specially adapted for infants. In water warmed to body temperature, the baby floats gently, guided by a professional who respects their pace, reactions, and comfort. This bath promotes physical relaxation, emotional release, and a sensory continuity between life in utero and life outside the womb.

It is a soft, enveloping, and deeply soothing experience, a conscious first encounter between the baby and the world.

A unique sensory and emotional experience

Each bath is a moment of listening and connection. The baby rediscovers the comforting sensations of their prenatal cocoon, warmth, fluid movement, and gentle sounds.

This immersion encourages muscular relaxation, the release of tension, and calm breathing. Parents actively participate in the experience, observing, touching, and accompanying their baby in a state of full presence.

Benefits of the baby thalasso bath

The thalasso bath supports the newborn’s overall well-being. It helps soothe crying, improves sleep, and supports digestion.

It is also a bonding moment: eye contact, gentle touch, and shared softness strengthen parent-child attachment and create a positive first sensory experience.

Each session is tailored to your baby’s personality and needs, offering a moment of pure serenity. Every bath is a time of listening and connection. The baby rediscovers the comforting cues of their prenatal environment: warmth, fluid movements, and muted sounds.

This gentle immersion promotes muscular relaxation, tension release, and calmer breathing. Parents actively participate in the experience by observing, touching, and supporting their baby in full presence.

Who can benefit and when to offer a baby thalasso bath

The baby thalasso bath is suitable for all newborns, whether born vaginally or by cesarean section.
It can be especially beneficial for babies who experienced a difficult, fast, or medically assisted birth, as well as for parents who simply wish to offer their baby a soothing and connecting moment.

Ideally, the thalasso bath is offered within the first 28 days of life, while the baby’s sensory memories of the womb are still vivid.
After that period, we also offer relaxation baths inspired by the same approach—adapted for older babies—to provide comfort, gentleness, and relaxation.

Recommended for babies who:

  • Were born at term or slightly premature (with healthcare provider approval)
  • Experienced a fast, induced, or cesarean birth
  • Show signs of stress at birth (such as intense crying, tension, or stiffness)
  • Have parents who wish to foster calmness and strengthen emotional bonding
